Training for Direct Action Against the Keystone XL Pipeline

If you signed the Credo pledge to resist the Keystone XL pipeline, here’s your chance to get ready for action.

On Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Durham Friends Meeting (corner of Quaker Meeting House Road and Rte 125 in Durham) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., our regional action lead, Lee Chisholm, is offering an NVCD training. While we have been flooding the State Department and Obama with pleas to reject the northern section of the Keystone XL pipeline, we are also aware that Congress keeps attempting to fast-track the XL approval process and take the decision away from the president. Whatever the source of an attempt to unleash this end-game, the idea of this training is to get us ready for an outpouring of protest. In Maine we plan to target TD Bank in Portland and would plan to gather at Monument Square.

Non-Violent Civil Disobedience training is required to take part in the action. The Durham training is the only training scheduled for our region. You do not need to risk arrest to take part in that training; an important role will be strictly supportive, free of any such risk. Lee is convinced that any of us who have worked with him over the course of the summer would strengthen this action immensely by joining it.
