The TPP and the TTIP

The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) & Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP)

Trade agreements are becoming end-runs on environmental regulations and protections. Corporations can sue for loss of profits that result when regulations prevent projected projects for being implemented or require expensive retrofits. The TPP and TTIP are examples of such trade agreements.

The Maine Citizen Trade Policy Commission has scheduled a public hearing this Thursday June 26th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Room 202 of the Cross Building in Augusta. The upcoming public hearing allows for organizations and individuals to raise concerns about these trade agreements.
